Places of Interest
There are many interesting places to visit in South Brittany. Below are just some examples which have proved to be favourites with our guests.
La Roche Bernard
Visit this wonderful harbour town, with its history and pretty lanes and squares. Try the wonderful restaurants along the port front offering Italian, galettes & pizzas. Try Sarah B at the end of the harbour with its wonderful atmosphere within a building complete with original character, offering lovely lunches and evening meals and a variety of menus for adults and children.
Penestin
Penestin has 25 kilometres of coastline and is only 20km from Riverview Gites. The lovely sandy beaches stretch for miles and Trehiguier is where mussels grow by the thousands. You can visit the exhibition of ‘Mussels & Men’ in the old lighthouse.
Tropical Park – St Jacut Les Pins
Enjoy a tour of the tropical world among animals and exotic plants in 1000m² of covered display. Discover the marvels of Asian art and view the fascinating flowers in the Orchid house.
Coeterlann Aventures, Trevineuc, Nivillac

Branfere – Le Geurno
Set in 35 hectares, you will discover 2000 animals of the world enjoying freedom on their own moated islands designed to allow them to live in something nearing their own natural habitat.
Parc de Prehistoric
Set in 20 hectares is Brittany’s prehistoric park. It includes 5 spectacular lakes and ancient wells and slate quarries. As you walk along the marked path you will see nearly 30 life size scenes firstly in their geological period. Then human evolution will unfold before your eyes in its amazing form.

Puy du Fou – Le grand parc
Enjoy this amazing park with its spectacular shows in open arenas taking you back in time to vikings and gladiators. You will be amazed by the events in this park and it is definitely a must see.

Planete Sauvage
Situated at Port St.Pere which is just southwest of Nantes, it is a fantastic wildlife safari with lions, giraffes, tigers etc. and the Cité Marine where sea lions perform with plenty more to see.

Cycling and walking
There are quiet lanes and roads around our gites. Walking in the nearby villages and taking in the views is a great experience. Then there is the tow path of the Nantes-Brest canal to explore.
Boat trips
Take a boat trip on the river Vilaine which departs from Arzal, or go to Vannes and catch a boat to the outlying islands in the Golfe du Morbihan. Or you can hire self-drive motor boats which can carry up to 12 people.
Yves Rocher vegetarium and factory
La Gacilly, this is where the beauty products empire has its roots. Yves Rocher has been the mayor of La Gacilly since the 1950′s, and is the patron of this pretty village crammed with artisan’s shops.
La Bretesche golf course
There are numerous golf courses in the region from the 9 hole course (with par 5 holes and lakes) at Caden to the famous national course of La Bretesche at Missillac.
